Sales and Marketing (Part Time)

Overview: Develop marketing plan and target community festivals, schools, open house, back to school night etc. Identify the schools, events, and concerts in the park, fishing derbies and other community events. The main purpose is to recruit youth to join the program and create awareness of Scouting in the communities we serve.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Be energetic Be good with youth and adults
  • Comfortable with public speaking (the ideal candidate will have Scouting knowledge but not a requirement)
  • Lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Be able to stand for long periods of time
  • High School diploma with some college
  • Take Youth Protection Training, pass a background check and be fingerprinted
  • Must have a valid Drivers License and current Automobile Insurance

Community Engagement Coordinator (Full-Time Exempt)

Overview: Supports the membership and community outreach initiatives of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council. Promotes and leads growth efforts in girl membership, diverse charter partnerships, and new units across the Council and especially in underserved and underrepresented communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Scouting background preferred
  • Commissioning from District Operations Basic or Equivalent

Overview: Supports the overall health of current Scouting units in the areas of membership growth, volunteer recruitment, program administration, and fund development. Works with Commissioner team to evaluate and deploy additional volunteer/staff resources to increase and sustain unit health.

Overview 

Provides immediate administrative support to three District Committees in the Greater Los Angeles Area Council. Attends all District Committee, Commissioner, Nominating Committee, and Key 3 meetings within assigned area. Is held accountable for the measurable achievements of the Districts and of direct reports. Serves as staff leader to Community Engagement Coordinator and up to four (4) Unit Coordinators.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED: 

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college, university (transcript with the date degree conferred stated is required for employment), or equivalent job experience 

  • Must be age 21 or older unless prohibited by any applicable law 
  • Must be a team leader and player; build relationships and communicate effectively with others 
  • Ability to inspire and manage volunteers and colleagues 
  • Ability to manage and manipulate excel 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling and communicating sensitive information 
  • Ability to coach and develop others 
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently and be detail-oriented 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills are required 
  • Experience in Scouting or other youth organization is helpful, though not required

The mission of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

We provide educational programs for youth and young adults that build character, citizenship, and personal fitness. Since our founding in 1915, the Greater Los Angeles Area Council has brought its purpose and values to millions of youth. The Scouting program facilitates meaningful contact and communication between youth, parents, and other community organizations (partners) to help young people adopt strong values and life skills.

The program presents fun, engaging, and valuable experiences directed at the maturity and interests of the young people at their appropriate age and ability levels.

The purpose of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council is to meaningfully and proactively offer leadership for the delivery and quality of the program, to assemble and train volunteers, and to gather resources to implement and promote the program to parents, youth, and the general community in the Greater Los Angeles Areas.
